Is Ebates Worth It?
I’m always wary of cashback scams online. Especially when a site claims that I can get cashback for buying something that I was already planning on purchasing. They’re almost always too good to be true.
And then I found Ebates.
Ebates is a site that partners with other online retailers to get you a cashback percentage for shopping at certain online stores. Each percentage is different, and they fluctuate based on sales and promotions being held by the retailer.
I got Ebates before Christmas last year and so far, I’ve LOVED it. Even if I don’t use it regularly , I’m glad I have it!
You get a free $10 gift card for signing up for Ebates with my link.
Why shouldn’t you have Ebates?
Some would argue that Ebates and other cashback sites only encourage frivolous spending on things that you don’t need. If you’re not careful, yes, that could happen. But if you’re going to stick to your budget, you have nothing to worry about.Â
The internet can be your enemy when you’re on a budget. It is extremely important to remember to stick to your budget even if it means foregoing an amazing deal. At the end of the day, having money in your bank is more important than saving 25% from Neiman Marcus.

Keep it around just in case…
I do the same thing I do with Ebates that I do with almost every other cashback or money-saving app: I keep it around just in case. I always shop around for deals before making any purchase. I have so many subscriptions to discount websites and so many coupon apps on my phone just to make sure that I never miss out on a good deal.
The pop-up makes sure you never miss a deal
I installed Ebates‘ pop-up tool to let me know if I was on a site that had a deal going with Ebates without ever have to spend time looking on Ebates.com. I was really surprised at how many sites have cashback deals with Ebates! Even Etsy has a cashback deal.
I subscribed to LivingSocial a while ago and recently they had a deal for a Costco membership and gift cards and coupons for $55. That’s a really great deal, considering that Costco’s membership alone costs $55! I was all set to purchase my deal, when I saw my little pop-up from Ebates in the top corner of my screen. It was letting me know that I could get 12% cashback from LivingSocial. I “made” $6.60 off of something that I was already going to buy. Not too bad, right? It’s better than nothing, that’s for sure!
So IS Ebates worth it?
Yes! You’ve got nothing to lose and everything to gain by getting an Ebates account. The chances that you’ll wind up saving some money in the form of a cashback check are very high. And the best part for me is this: you were already planning on buying something in the first place. Why not try to save some money while you’re doing it?
I’ve done Swagbucks, and while it’s nice to get cash back on purchases I was already planning to make, I often forget to use it. I might have to look into Ebates. #TwinklyTuesday
I love Ebates! I don’t think it really encourages frivolous spending; I don’t think the cash back amounts are typically high enough for that. I, for one, am not going to make a purchase I wouldn’t ordinarily make just because I’m getting 4% back.

I love Ebates! I’ve had it for about a year and a half and only use it on purchases I’m going to make anyway. It’s such a nice way to make/save a little extra money! I’ve gotten over $75 in cash back since I’ve started using it – I don’t think that’s too bad 🙂 Thanks for the post!
I’ve had an Ebates account for quite some time. However I never really bothered with it until they added Amazon.com . Now it’s pretty easy to get a bit of cash back (on stuff that I was going to buy anyway)
