I’m sure you’ve heard or seen ads about the Ibotta app and how you can make some extra money. I don’t know about you, but my first question was: “How does Ibotta work?” My second question was: “Can you really earn cashback on almost everything?” Read this review to find out how to use it and just how much you can earn!

Maybe your friends use it or maybe you’ve seen some commercials for it on TV. Honestly, this is one of my favorite cashback or rebate apps I’ve ever used. It’s really super easy and there are a ton of ways to use it.

Later on in this post, I’ll share how Ibotta works. But first, I want to tell you my impression of it and why I like it so much.

First of all, I love that there are a ton of options!

Instead of always having to upload a receipt, I can choose to just shop right from the app.

I also really like how fast they pay. You only have to earn a minimum balance of $20, then you can withdraw your earnings.

To receive your cashback, you can choose whether to buy gift cards through the app or send the money to your PayPal account. The money usually appears in my PayPal within an hour, but sometimes it takes up to 24 hours.

Another thing I really love about Ibotta is how many retailers they work with. Just about everything I normally buy has some kind of deal or discount on the app. Then, I earn a portion of that back. So I’m basically earning money when I buy paper towels and new shoes.

It’s the best!

How Does Ibotta Work?

Now that you know why I love it, I’ll tell you how to use it. Like I said earlier, there are tons of ways to earn cashback with Ibotta.

I’ll split this little tutorial up into the two main ways you can use it – online shopping and earning money in the store. I personally earn most of my money through Ibotta by shopping online…hello, mom-life!

How to earn money through the Ibotta app:

Download the app and log in.
Grab the $10 BONUS when you sign up here.
Choose the site you want to visit and tap it from within the app.
It will take you to that retailer’s app or site.
Shop as normal.
After you are done shopping, tap “Save.” The app will put your earnings in your Ibotta account.

You can also use the app to send you notifications when you are near a retailer that works with Ibotta. This is called “nearby offer alerts.” It will tell you when you are near an Ibotta retailer and if they have any deals or discounts.

How to use Ibotta and stop clipping coupons:

That brings us to the next way you can easily earn cash with Ibotta. The other way to earn money from Ibotta is by shopping in the stores. There are tons of really large retailers that partner with Ibotta. Here’s how to earn money back from Ibotta when you do your normal shopping in the stores.

1. Pay With Ibotta

Shop at one of the Ibotta retailers. See the full list here.
Ring up your items at the cash register.
Open the app and enter the total amount. Buy a store gift card and give the gift card code to the store employee to pay for your items.
Save time by pre-loading a store gift card before you go.

2. Link Your Loyalty Accounts

Another really easy way to earn cashback in-store is to link your loyalty accounts to the Ibotta app. This takes just a few minutes to set up!

Select your store in the app.
Then, follow the prompts to link your loyalty card to it.
After it’s all set up, you can begin browsing coupons and offers at that store.
Load them to your card.
Then, when you shop and scan your loyalty card at the store, your cashback will automatically be added to your Ibotta account.

3. Submit A Receipt

There is also a place right in the app where you can take a picture of your receipt and upload it to your account. Ibotta will look it over and give you any cashback you might have earned from the trip.

If you don’t have time to look for offers and load them to your card or buy a store’s gift card, this might be the best option for you.

I use it and earn money back from it and so do lots of my friends. It doesn’t take very long to hit that $20 minimum to cash out. If you are going to buy socks and applesauce pouches at Target, you might as well earn some money back doing it, right?
