It’s the best overall course on blogging out there and it will make you into a full-time blogger earning a full-time income. This free training will help to give you the steps you need to take if you feel like you have no time to start a blog.

Tips for a new blogger from a blogging pro:
1. Tell us a little bit about yourself and your blog.
Hello! My name is Michelle Schroeder-Gardner and I created the personal finance blog Making Sense of Cents. I have three finance-related college degrees and I used to be a financial analyst before I switched to full-time blogging.
On my blog Making Sense of Cents, I talk a lot about different ways to make extra money, the best money saving tips, pursuing your dreams in life, traveling full-time and being location dependent, and more. I love running Making Sense of Cents and I am very happy that this is now my full-time career, my business, and my life.

2. How long have you been blogging?
I’ve been blogging for a little over 5 years now. It’s been a great five years!
3. What made you start your blog? And did you always want to make money from your blog?
In the summer of 2011, I started my blog with the aim of teaching people how to save money as well as journaling my personal finance journey after reading a magazine that featured a personal finance website in one of their articles. I became extremely interested in that website and my interest in blogging just grew from there. This is interesting and hilarious because, before that same summer, I had no idea about what blogs were, that they could even make money or anything along those lines.
It’s super funny for me to think about that and how far I’ve come over the years!
I did not create my blog with the intention of making money blogging. It was all just a hobby and an outlet I then realized how much I loved blogging and realized that it was for me, so now I am a full-time blogger! I went full-time in October of 2013 and I haven’t looked back once. Blogging has completely changed my life for the better and it’s something that I recommend everyone try if they are interested.

4. When did you start to monetize your blog?
I earned my first income through my blog through a sponsored advertisement. I earned around $100 from that advertisement and that was after around 6 months of blogging. Like I said above, though, I didn’t start my blog with the intention of earning an income and never pursued that while I was blogging in the beginning. So, earning that first $100 was super exciting even though I had poured hours and hours into my blog before that, haha!

5. How long was it before you started to see real income from your blog?
After I earned that first $100 from my blog, I became super interested in making money blogging. I believe that after just around one year of blogging that I was already earning a few thousand dollars a month through my blog. It grew quickly once I set a goal to actually start making money from my blog!

6. What’s the best advice you’d give a new blogger?
My best piece of advice that I’d give a new blogger is that I recommend networking as much as you can. One big blogging mistake that I’ve noticed many other bloggers make is not making the effort to network. Networking is so important as a blogger. You should see others in the blogging world as your colleagues and friends, not your enemies or competition.
7. What can a new blogger do from the very beginning to get started building a blog for a source of income?
One very important thing is to continue to learn about blogging and the many different ways to make money blogging.
One learning tool I recommend is my Making Sense of Affiliate Marketing course. Making Sense of Affiliate Marketing is a great learning tool, even if you are a brand new blogger. By taking this course, you will start off blogging the correct way.
You can learn from my affiliate marketing mistakes and learn the best ways to start making an income by being an affiliate. Through taking this course you are sure to grow a profitable blog quicker than the average blogger, as you’ll learn exactly what you need to know about affiliate marketing. So, even if you only have one blog post or even none, you are ready to get started with this course!
I’ve gotten to know Michelle over the past year personally, but I’d been following her blog for years. These are the kinds of opportunities that blogging unlocks. It’s one of those fan-girl moments when you realize that the blogs you’ve been following for years and years can actually be your peers in the business.
If you need any more motivation to start your blog, check out Michelle’s latest income reports for inspiration. Thanks to her blog, she and her husband (and their adorable puppies) travel the country in an RV and bring in $100,000/month.
It’s literally insane, but that’s the beauty of being a blogger: there’s no earning limit. The only limit that you have is by not starting a blog. So seriously, start today!
