Let’s talk about the dreaded “T” word: taxes. The necessary evil that scared the pants off of us all each year when we get that first W2 in the mail.

Honestly, taxes don’t scare me. They never have. Not because I’m some math guru (which is laughable since I basically spent my senior year arguing with my calculus teacher about how it isn’t applicable so I shouldn’t need to learn it). I love filling my taxes because it is so easy!

Why should you bother to prepare your taxes on your own?

I hate the idea of paying someone to do something that I can do it myself. Now, if I needed to do any math, I’d hire a tax pro to prepare my taxes. But since all it takes is entering numbers that are already right there in front of me, it’s just a waste of money to pay someone else to do it for me!

Sure, if you get a refund, they’ll just deduct money from it to pay for their services, but wouldn’t you rather have that whole refund to use how you want to? I know I would!

But I’m a new home owner, who got married, had a baby and started a new job all in the same year!

Congratulations! You had a busy year! And it used to be that a year like this would have been a tax nightmare; with all of the different forms and all of the different papers… yikes!

Taxes aren’t filed like that anymore, thankfully! Now, it’s all as easy as answering some yes or no questions and that’s about it!

No matter how much our life has changed in the past year, it doesn’t make your taxes any more difficult to file. It’s really as simple as typing in numbers.
