How does Fetch Rewards Work?
Here’s how it works with Fetch: first you download the FREE app, then you can start scanning your receipts and earning those points.
Once you’ve downloaded the app and you’re in, the app will give you a quick tutorial to help you get started.
First, you’ll see the little camera icon at the bottom of your screen. That’s where you will click to scan receipts to Fetch (they call these “snaps” of your receipt).
Fetch offers a hefty 750-point bonus for your first upload, plus another 500 points for your second. That’s 1,200 (or more!) points right there. Not to mention that if you click here to sign up, you’ll get a bonus of 2,000 points for scanning your first receipt (or more! Sometimes Fetch adds an extra bonus for signing up). As far as what the points are “worth” in terms of gift cards, 1,000 points equal $1 in rewards.
Not sure if your receipts will be worth anything? No matter what retailer the receipt is from, you will earn a minimum of 25 points!
Fetch accepts receipts from the following types of vendors:
- Grocery stores (including pharmacies)
- Convenience stores (including gas stations)
- Drugstores (including the pharmacies there, too)
- Big-box retailers (like Costco, Walmart and Target)
- Department stores
If you were wondering how long it takes for Fetch Rewards to process your receipts, it only takes a few seconds to get your points, so there’s no waiting around and holding on to the receipt.

Referring a friend with Fetch Rewards is so easy, too. Just click the refer a friend” option under your account menu.
With that code, you can easily send referrals by text or email to friends and family members who might also like to save money and get rewards using Fetch. Once the other person creates an account using your link, you’ll both get your points instantly.

Earn points toward free gift cards for uploading e-receipts.
Do a lot more online shopping than you do in-store? Fetch can still get you points and rewards!
To upload your e-receipts, look for the blue “e” icon next to the camera icon. From there, you have two options: you can add your Amazon account, your personal email address, or both.
Once you’ve connected your email and Amazon accounts, your e-receipts will automatically upload to Fetch and start adding even more toward your total rewards points.
You can also download the Fetch Rewards browser extension, just like you have with Rakuten.
Fetch Rewards Doesn’t Care Where You Shop!
Fetch works with all major grocery suppliers as well as other types of retailers. It doesn’t matter whether you shop at Target, Walmart, Trader Joe’s, Aldi, Whole Foods, or a small town, local neighborhood market.
It’s more than just grocery receipts though. Fetch also allows you to scar receipts for when you fuel up your car, grab a coffee at the corner shop, or load up your cart with clothes from Target.
Uploading a Receipt to Fetch Takes About 10 Seconds
If you’re looking to redeem rewards from a recent purchase, uploading your receipt to Fetch only takes about 10 seconds.
Just head to the “Upload Receipt” tab on the main menu and follow the simple prompts. After your receipt has been uploaded, you’ll see a summary of the points that your purchases earned. From there you can immediately collect your rewards points if you want to.
How many dollars is 1000 points on Fetch?

The 5 Easy Primary Ways to Earn Points with Fetch Rewards
Special Offers
There are usually dozens of “Special Offers” available to redeem inside the Fetch Rewards app. All you need to do to get those sweet sweet special offer bonus points is to just upload your receipt showing a qualifying item and you will be rewarded with extra bonus points. This is a nice and easy means to snag a quick 1000-5000 points, which is equal to $1 to $5.
Participating Brands
Another way to earn points with Fetch Rewards is by buying certain name-brand products. Fetch partners with more than 300 brands, so this is a simple way to earn points for things that you already buy.
The brands and products that have special deals and offers vary day to day, so be sure to keep an eye out for your favorite brands. 🙂
I normally don’t plan my purchases based on these brands, but you can find a list of them at the top of the Discover tab inside the Fetch app.
Groceries From ANY Store – Yes, Fetch works with even small or local grocery stores
Worried that because you don’t buy a lot of products from major or national brands and stores? Don’t worry, because you can still earn points with Fetch Rewards without needing to shop at the major chains. When you shop at any of the following stores, you’ll earn at least 25 points per receipt:
Every receipt that you earn – even from a small shop – will earn you 25 points just for scanning the receipt. Those shops include:
- Any grocery retailer
- Club stores
- Supermarkets
- Home improvement or hardware stores
- Pet stores
- Liquor stores
- Convenience stores
- Gas station receipts
Remember, if the receipt is clearly itemized, you can still get points from those special offers as well.

All Other Receipts can STILL earn you points with Fetch
This is one of my favorite things about Fetch Rewards. Every receipt that you scan is worth 25 points!
That Starbucks you got today? 25 points.
That trip to fill the car with gas? 25 points.
That pit stop for food on a road trip? 25 points.
It really does all add up so easily to get points towards your rewards and gift cards.
Upload Your Receipts to Multiple Apps
If you were worried that using Fetch Rewards would eliminate your ability to use other grocery store couponing or rewards apps, you have nothing to worry about.
You can upload the same receipt to Fetch Rewards and Ibotta or any other shopping apps that you may use. This gives you double the points from just 1 receipt.
This is a great way to stack your earnings across all apps. The only thing you CAN NOT do with Fetch (or any grocery rewards app) is to upload the same receipt more than once. That’s against their terms and conditions and may result in shutting down your account.
Redeem Your Fetch Rewards Points for Gift Cards
Want to know how many Fetch Rewards points you have so that you can redeem your rewards gift card? Click on the “rewards” icon in the bottom navigation menu. You’ll see all of the listed places where you can redeem your points for a gift card and Visa gift cards as well.
Once you’ve earned at least 3,000 points, you can redeem them for gift cards — with a few exceptions. For example, 3,000 points is a $3 gift card and there are only a select few brands that offer $3 gift cards. Most brands and retailers only give gift cards for 5,000 points or $5 as the minimum.
That said, you can also spend your points on charity, entertainment, clothing, and more.
Here’s how to easily redeem your Fetch Rewards points:
- Tap “Rewards” in the bottom navigation menu.
- Click the gift card you want (you can also use the “Search” function to find more options without scrolling)
- Then select the reward amount that you want (usually, there are options for $5, $10, $25, and $50, but some go higher or lower depending on the brand)
- Once you’ve chosen your gift card, submit the order and you will receive a notice that the transaction processed.
- To redeem your new gift card, navigate back to the “Rewards” icon, then tap “my rewards.” There, you’ll see your “Current Rewards.” (IMPORTANT: Do NOT tap the “mark as used” option just yet.)
- Now, tap the image from the store you chose for your reward. Once you do that, you’ll receive a code you can copy and apply to your purchases from that store or brand.
- Once you’ve copied and used the code for that gift card, THEN tap the “mark as used” button so you can keep track of which cards have been used over time.
Pro tip: You can save up your points as you earn them. You don’t need to spend them all the second that you get 5,000 points. I love to save up the points and use them for holidays and birthdays or gas for our big family vacation.

Cons of using Fetch Rewards:
There are a few cons to using fetch rewards. The first is that you may not be able to redeem all of your rewards in the way you want. For example, you may not be able to use them for travel or merchandise and are limited to the options for the gift card options listed on the app.
The second con is that the options for special offers and brands are limited compared to other rewards and couponing apps.
Another con to Fetch is that there’s currently no cash redemption option. Hopefully, this will change in the future though.
